Marsha Miller says of her French Quarter courtyards: "We live out here. We use the entire space. That, and I am able to bring all of this beauty inside, too."

Her space is striking for the feeling of history it imparts — the flagstones date to the 1830s and its surrounded by masonry walls — as well as for the sheer volume of real estate in the unusual lot. The series of courtyards, secret corners and alcoves, seating, and cooking areas encompasses almost the depth of the block.

You can see the spaces May 27, as Marsha and Van Miller will open their outdoor spaces for a self-guided tour hosted by Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré. But we also offer a peek inside the home.
